when: Friday the 27th of March from 17:00- 00:00 / Saturday 28th of March 12:00-17:00
About the artists:

Paulina Mellado (1986)  born in Temuco, Chile, works and lives in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands.

When touched by man, nature is re- shaped into not real enough. It is as if our touch was miraculously turning things into different matter, shape and concept: How come reality stops where we start? When does something stop being natural and starts being artificial?
Paulina’s work deals with the representation of landscape and nature; through different mediums such as installation, drawing, photography and video she questions the images and discourses we attach to nature, land, territory and landscape; and our position in those images.

In short stories, novels and poetry, Jasper Griepink (Eindhoven, 1988) extrapolates his fears, desires and fantasies as a (western) body looking for unity, romance and wisdom across (foreign) cultures. In elaborate performance & installation works that function as baths, the bodies, histories and feelings of an audience are directly invited into play. Within streams of sounds, smells, tactile matter and physical interaction Jasper tries to bring the at times confronting reality of our physical impermanence to the fore in tangible and often entertaining ways.

Since his MFA graduating at the Piet Zwart Institute (Rotterdam, 2013) Jasper has been traveling through South-East Asia and South America, been a resident at Alto Residency, Brazil, Kunsthuis SYB, Beetsterzwaag. He recently performed at TENT Rotterdam, 1646 The Hague and MuHKA Antwerp.

During the event, Jasper will be reading from his upcoming book and his “Geometric Sauna” will be operational. www.jaspergriepink.nl

Dimitris Rentoumis was born in Athens, Greece, 1980. He studied Fine Art in Athens and in the Netherlands. He is currently living in the Netherlands.

“My recent works are related to drawing and to cinematics as pure visual sensations. Their form corresponds with the sculptural aspects of the surface, both as a receiver and a conveyor. The alterations of shades and forms through different media – and particularly the moving image and drawing – are explored in order to reveal a continuity between digital manipulation, the original and the outcome.”

Yari Miele born in Cantu ́(Como, Italy) in1977. He studied painting in „Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera“ (Milan) and works in Milan.

In his work Yari Miele explores the different methods of perceiving light radiations and their variations connected to the natural and artificial light. He reflects on the relation between illusion and tangibility, physical and mental structures of the space, objectivity and subjectivity, underlining how reality can have different appearances.

Nelleke Beltjens, born in Roermond, the Netherlands, graduated from the Academy of Art in Tilburg the Netherlands and obtained an M.A in Sculpture from the Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, US, and an M.F.A in Art Studio from the University of California, Davis, US. She lives and works in US and Europe.

“I like to create what I don’t know, can’t know.
I am interested in the impossible, the complexity of life,
that everything is always in movement and changing;
that everything is happening at the same time including that what is not happening, but exists in possibility.
I create states of becoming: possibilities.”

Paola Alborghetti born in italy in 1975, studied painting in „Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera“, Milan. Since 2007 she lives between Italy (Como) and Germany (Dresden) and worked in different european cities and USA.
“I define my work as the unwitting source of wonderful accidents”. Her paintings consist of an intuitive combination of figurative and abstract elements in analogy to her own subjective memories. Representation take place where the wonder is starting and where the imagination has a large place. Like depicting from her stratified subconscious, she likes to move inside materials and discover new forms under the layers of colours. The subject of her paintings becomes the process itself, always surrounded from her fascination of the „unknown“.

Eckehard Fuchs born in Germany in 1975, studied painting in “Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden” and postgradueted in 2005. Since 2007 he lives between Germany and Italy and worked in different european cities and USA.
Eckehard Fuchs’s subjects hover between memory, imagination and the impressions left on our subconscious. In his paintings he combines elements depicted from nature as well as references to art history. His pictural expression slides between figuration and abstraction. At times, combining a subtle palette with expressive, garish colors, his paintings don’t merely describe a de facto reality, but rather navigate the viewer through a psychological landscape enabling a glimpse through the window of the soul.
